On April 13, 2025 — a date now etched as a dark day in Mysuru’s environmental memory — over 40 fully grown, heritage trees on Hyder Ali Road were felled under the cover of night by the Mysuru City Corporation. Decades-old guardians of the city’s ecosystem, cut without public consultation, without transparency, and without remorse.

In response to this green massacre, a wave of protests, petitions, and peaceful defiance has risen across the city. The #SaveMySuruTrees movement is not just about mourning what was lost
